In the late 1800’s many cowboys took the act of free grazing across the open range. From prairie to plain they would drive the cattle across this vast and slowly developing west. They would take their livestock wherever they could before they sold their property off at the market.
These men we faced with adversity by many who didn’t want them on their land or those who wished to take their cattle. When they were out on the open range they needed to be ready at any moment for whatever may come their way.
In this piece notice the steady gaze that comes from the cowboy. His eyes fixed on his task at hand. Notice his horse is not just being ridden by the cowboy, but rather, that they are one. Both working in unison to protect what is rightfully theirs.
