Roadrunners are most commonly found living in very arid and desolate country.  One might wonder why they prefer this kind of habitat. Having grown up in the Southern California desert I used to see roadrunners quickly racing through the sage and around cactus. I always wondered what was their hurry… I have come to the conclusion that roadrunners are perfectly suited for the desert due to the fact that they cover a lot of ground quickly.  In an area where food is less concentrated, it helps to be proactively aggressive in the searching for life-sustaining nutrition.  The roadrunner is not willing to sit and wait for a handout while conceding that it is his circumstances that has caused his demise, but instead, by constantly racing from place to place in his hunt for food the roadrunner finds his hidden rewards and has taken his supposed wasteland and turned it into a “Land of Opportunity.”
